How Tritium Exit Signs Work
Tritium Exit Signs are also known as Self Luminous Exit Signs. The terms are interchangeable; tritium gas is the self-illuminating light source for this type of exit sign. Tritium, a naturally occurring isotope of hydrogen, glows when enclosed in glass tubes and infused with phosphorous materials. Choose between a 10, 15, or 20 year lifespan for your Tritium Exit Sign.
This unique illumination process allows Tritium Exit Signs to be completely non-electrical and self-powered. Eliminating the need for electricity also eliminates the maintenance associated with testing the battery backup systems of conventional LED exit signs. Tritium exit signs can be used both indoors and outside, they are available in a single or double sided model with a variety of face color choices.
